How to search all the thrift apps at once
Six marketplaces, one hunt — the manual way and the fast way.
Secondhand fashion is split across at least six big marketplaces — Depop, Poshmark, Vinted, eBay, Mercari and ThredUp — and none of them talk to each other. The jacket you want might be on any of them, cheapest on the one you didn't check. So a serious hunt means six searches, six sets of filters, six tabs… for every single query.
There are two ways to fix that: the disciplined manual way, and the one-search way. This guide covers both honestly.
The manual method (free, slow, works)
1. Keep one search phrase, adapt it per app
Write your query once — brand, garment, era, size — and paste it everywhere. But know each marketplace's dialect: eBay rewards long specific queries ("levis 501xx big E selvedge 34"), while Depop and Vinted often do better with shorter ones plus their category filters. Poshmark leans on brand + item type.
2. Search the misspellings too
Sellers misspell brands constantly — "Carhart", "Ralph Loren", "Patagucci" is a joke but "Patagonia" gets typo'd plenty. Misspelled listings get fewer eyes and sell cheaper. Run the typo variants on eBay especially.
3. Save the search on every app that supports it
Depop, Vinted and eBay all offer saved searches with notifications. Turn them on everywhere so the apps hunt while you sleep. The catch: six apps' worth of notification settings to manage, and each one only watches its own inventory.
4. Expect to see the same item several times
Serious sellers cross-post one garment to two or three marketplaces with tools like Vendoo — often at different prices, because each platform's fees differ. If you spot an item you love, it's worth checking the other apps for the same listing cheaper before you buy.
The one-search method
This is the problem ThriftX was built for. One query — typed in plain language or snapped as a photo — fans out to all six marketplaces simultaneously. Then it does the things the manual method can't:
- AI photo-verification: it looks at each listing's actual photos to check the item matches what you asked for, instead of trusting keyword soup in titles.
- Cross-post de-duplication: when the same item is listed on several marketplaces, you see it once — at the cheapest listing — with the other prices one tap away.
- One saved search for all six apps: a single daily alert covers every marketplace, with a push notification when something new matches. The first week of any alert is free.
You still buy on the original marketplace, under its own buyer protection — ThriftX is the search layer, not the checkout.
Or skip the tab-hopping entirely
ThriftX runs one search across Depop, Poshmark, Vinted, eBay, Mercari and ThredUp at once — by text or photo — AI-checks the listing photos, shows cross-posted items once at their best price, and can re-run your search daily as an alert (first week free). Free on iPhone, 15 credits included, no card.
